Albertson Law Group Upcoming Seminar Calendar

How to Protect Your Family's Assets from Devastating Nursing Home Costs, June 24, 2010

Please note - Our June 24th seminars are full, so we added two additional seminars on Wednesday, June 30th, at 1:30 pm or at 6:30 pm

Over 50% of Americans will spend time in a nursing home before they die.  Have you properly planned for the emotional, financial and legal issues that come as a consequence of incapacity?

This informative seminar is for anyone concerned with the dramatic consequences of incapacity.  There are emotional issues for family and the incapacitated person, legal issues that may force control to be put in the hands of unwanted relatives, and financial issues as nursing home costs sore.

Mark Albertson, Senior Counsel at Albertson Law Group, who's practice focuses on the particular issues of incapacity, elder law and special needs planning, will present this informative seminar to show you:

1. The three legal documents everyone needs to protect their legal rights when incapacity hits
2. How to avoid having to have a legal guardianship process forced on you should you become incapacitated.
3. Important financial benefits that may be available to you, if you are a veteran, in the event you become incapacitated.
4. How long term care insurance works, and why it's an important option to look at.
5. How to make sure that in the event you have to go into a nursing home, the State doesn't take your home and other assets from you.
6. Why divorce is unnecessary in most cases when one spouse has to go into a nursing home.
6. How the "Special House Trust" may be an option to protect you in the event of incapacity.

We will also have time for questions and answers.

Common-Sense Asset Protection Planning, November 4, 2010

Jim Davies, Senior Counsel at Albertson Law Group, will present a workshop entitled, “Common-Sense Asset Protection Planning”.  With America in a litigation crisis, how do you know whether or not you’ll be the next person sued, and if so, do you risk losing everything you have worked so hard for during your lifetime?  Most people believe that asset protection planning is expensive, cumbersome and involves the use of elaborate “schemes” to protect your assets.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  There are a number of things that you can do both to limit your liability exposure, and to limit your risk with your assets. We will discuss trusts, corporations, LLC’s, retirement plans, insurance and other issues to help you to properly protect your assets.
